There is No Limit - Eva's Marathon Reflections

Eva is a two time marathon finisher! Along with 2,600 other SRLA runners, Eva completed her second Los Angeles Marathon last month. Eva is an 11th grader at Synergy Quantum Angelou. This week she shared some of her Marathon reflections for our blog…

What was your favorite part of the run?
Running up the hills and the kind encouraging chants from SRLA supporters. I love smiling while running because it makes me feel so happy inside.

What new place or thing did you discover during the Los Angeles Marathon?

Running is a mental game, it's not easy but it will prove to yourself how strong you are and that anything is possible, there is no limit.

What was the most challenging part of the run?
Keeping a good pace.

Were there any moments when a fellow member of the running community helped you during the event?
A senior from my team was encouraging me to keep going during my 22nd mile and it really helped me to keep jogging and believing that I will make it, which I did. I ended up beating my personal record! I felt so proud!

How did you feel crossing the finish line?
SO HAPPY! ! SO PROUD I COMMITTED TO GETTING TO THE FINISH LINE!

Any other memorable moments from the marathon?

Crying at the end of the finish line because I pushed myself to sprint to the line even though I felt so tired.

In my first marathon I really was tired in my 22nd mile but a kind lady was encouraging to keep pushing and told me I can do it!

I really felt so happy and hyped up when I saw my coach and teachers cheering for me and giving high fives while I was jogging. I felt really motivated to keep running.

What advice do you have for someone who is planning to run the Los Angeles Marathon next year?
Keep a good pace, breathe, stay hydrated, take energy gels, and keep on smiling.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I will forever be grateful for my running experience with SRLA. I really love and appreciate my teammates and coaches they made me so happy and made me feel strong.
